Spending Time with God | Reading the Bible
Updated: Dec 7, 2022
As a mother of two under the age of two, my days are full and distracting. When my daughter was first born I tried getting up early to read my bible but she would usually wake up a few minutes after I left the room. For me, it's difficult to read while constantly being interrupted. With regular books it's annoying but I can pick up and keep going. When I'm reading my bible I don't want to be disrupted, I want to read a chapter in full and think about it. I have tried two methods that have worked for me since becoming a mom. I'm also going to share another way I read through the Bible to break it up.
I have been working on reading the Bible within a yea’s time and I have completed it. I would love to make it a yearly habit. I challenge you to read the Bible completely through at least once.

The Bible as an Audiobook
This one might not be for everyone. Try listening to your bible as an audiobook. I love listening to audiobooks, podcasts, audible, adventures in odyssey, etc you get the point. This was how I listen (read) my bible completely through the first time. Most bible apps have audio available to you for free.
Get yourself some earbuds, put one earbud in and you're all set. (If you don't have a set of wireless headphones, click here Amazon has a set for $30 that work just as well as expensive ones.)

Read the Bible at Night
I finally found a way that works best for me to physically read the Bible. I read my bible at night after everyone goes to sleep. I have a bible app downloaded on my phone and I read from there a lot of the time. This works great when in bed snuggling a baby. Other times, I read from physical Bible. Once I finish I go into my app to keep my place. This way I'm able to continue my bible reading if I'm using the app or the bible.

Two Ways to Read Through the Bible
The most common way to read through the Bible is starting with Genesis and ending with Revelation. This is how I do it when I'm using an audiobook. There are many apps and printouts to help you stay on track using this method.
I've been reading my Bible a little differently this year. My pastor suggested it as a way to read the Bible through. Reading it in alphabetical order. Starting with Acts and ending in Zephaniah. If you're wanting to read the Bible through in a years time, read three chapters every and four chapters every four days.
I hope this helps you read your Bible.
